Garden Furniture Clearance
69Why buy garden furniture in clearance sales?
Even if you live in the coldest place on the planet, you will still need to get yourself some chairs and a table to sit down in the garden with, on the 1 day a year that the sun comes out. Those of us who live in rainy climates also need to have a good set of chairs and a table to sit out on the porch or veranda. With summer just a breath away, finding a local garden furniture clearance sale is going to be high on lots of peoples list of things to do.
Buying wooden furniture from a clearance sale is a great way to save money too. Although the items may not be in the best condition or be of the latest fashionable design or style, a good solid wooden chair will last you for years, providing it is looked after. Items are usually put into these kinds of sales, because the company has not been able to sell them before the next style or color is available. Also, places only seem to sell garden furniture for a few months at a time, before the warmer times of the year, so getting hold of some cheap lawn furniture will be easier in the colder months or right at the end of the summer. There is usually nothing wrong with the furniture too, but styles change and just like a clothes shop, stock is sold cheaply to make way for newer bits to come in.
If you are interested in getting hold of some cheap garden furniture in a clearance sale, finding it in the first place could be the hardest part. Sales come and go so quickly, being first in the line is not always possible. Here are a few tips on how to find a local garden furniture clearance sale.
Tip 1: Read all about it!
Check your local newspaper every week. This is the kind of place where sales are advertised. Also, the original seller of the furniture may appoint another company to sell or auction off their stock, so you will probably see lots of adverts for companies you may never have heard of.
Don't just look for names your recognise either, these companies sometimes come and go quickly, so scanning the paper each day or week will help you located a sale easily.
Tip 2: Word of mouth - your own mouth that is.
Ask one of the larger local companies that sells garden furniture if they have a clearance section. They may not have one in the store, but may have shipped all of the unwanted stock to another local warehouse or company.
Call up or visit the shop and ask if they know about their clearance section, when they will have clearance sales or where you can get hold of the stock. If you don't ask, you don't get!

Tip 3: Local eBay searches pay dividends.
eBay has become a very easy way for companies to sell off their old stock online and reach a much wider customer base. After you have logged into eBay, make sure you search for garden furniture based on a certain distance from your zipcode or post code. You will want to see local auctions if possible, as you won't want to drive 100's of miles to pick up some chairs and tables and also, companies that are local to you will be easier to find.
You can also check out websites like Craigslist, where you might be able to pick up a bargain too. If you want to physically see the items before you buy, this is definitely the tip that will work best for you.
Tip 4: Consult the yellow bible.
Your local yellow pages will also list companies that sell garden furniture too. Look up the companies and contact them to see when or if they are having a clearance sale. I bet you already know of some local companies that sell this kind of thing, but there will be lots of others you will probably have never heard of.
These will most likely be warehouses or distributors, but contacting them by phone is easy to see if they ever sell off their stock. Again, if you don't ask, you won't get!
Tip 5: Timing is everything.
Clearance sales normally take place at the end of a season. As summer draws to a close, this is the time you will want to be looking around to see who is selling off their stock. As I said above, it is just like a clothes store.
They have their summer, winter, autumn and spring fashions and then put the pieces on sale at the end of each season as the styles change. This is basic business sense and is widely practiced by all types of company too, so pick your moment and you will be sure to pick up a bargain.
